SLI Rig of the Month
Full Name: Paul Edwards
Country: UK
City/State: Sunniside- Tyne & Wear
Handle: Coolmiester

This months ROTM comes to us from all the way across the pond in the UK. Taking two months to build, this system is not only beautiful but blazing fast. Paul had this to say about what he had in mind when building his system:

“I wanted to build the ultimate PC and improve the over all appearance of the Cosmos S while not detracting too much from its original good looks but enough to make it stand out from the crowed while still keeping its appeal”

I think it’s safe to say, mission accomplished! Take a look at the system specs and see what else Paul had to say.

What games are you currently playing and why?
Deux Ex - basically I enjoyed it first time around so thought I’d see how it stands up to today's offerings.

What games are you looking forward to playing and why?
Always on the look out for something a bit different - its one thing having killer graphics but if the game doesn't get you hooked into the actual game play, no matter how good the graphics are they become irrelevant for me.

What was the biggest challenge you faced when building this system and how did you overcome it?
The side panel vents were a bit of a challenge as the side panels were so flexible and first time around the car filler cracked while the paint was drying in the oven so to overcome this flaw I had to remount the vents onto a foam cushion type tape that absorbs the flex of the panel and re-paint.

The other challenge was to keep both water loops looking clean and kink free which was harder than it possible looks given the close proximity of the CPU and NB blocks and i also managed to route hose through both GX2 cards to keep the free flowing lines.

What advice would you give to a first-time system builder?
A lot of clichés spring to mind whenever i hear this type of question but i would say first and foremost compile a theme/plan whether on paper or in your head and work through any foreseeable problems that you can visualize before they actually arise. Do as much research as possible on anything that you're not to sure about and don't be afraid to ask for help if needed.

When do you plan on building your next system and what are your plans for that system?
I'm currently waiting for Coolermaster to get me the new ATCS 840 over so I can start a Nehalem build.
