SLI Rig of the Month
Full Name: Kelly Wilkins
Country: USA
City/State: Concord, CA
Handle: Nsidious

Kelly’s latest rig features three overclocked EVGA GeForce® 8800 GTX video cards, an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor (overclocked to 4.7 GHz), and numerous flight simulator peripherals by Saitek, including the X52 Pro Flight Controllers, Pro Yoke and Throttle, Pro Rudder Pedals, as well as equipment by Go Flight such as the GF-LGT Landing Gear/Trim module and the RP 48 Rotary Panel. To finish it up, he has installed a Buttkicker Bass Shaker too. Needless to say Kelly is an avid PC Pilot. We asked Kelly some questions, here is what he had to say:

1) How would you describe your rig to the rest of the Club SLI® Community?
One hell of a beast! I have literally put blood, sweat, and tears into creating the ultimate gaming rig. It runs everything flawlessly. And with the 64-bit operating system, it’s even more stable than having 3 GB of memory on the 32-bit version. With the interior of the system custom painted in black powder and the exterior in glossy black, this system truly brings new meaning to the words "Kneel before Zod!" (My system is named after the super villian Zod from Superman 2). The dual-loop water cooling system dramatically increases stability, running at 28 degrees Celsius when idling and 37 degrees Celsius when loaded. As I said, it’s one hell of a beast!

2) In your opinion, what is the major benefit of having three GPUs installed?
The power of 3-Way SLI and knowing that I can play any game out there at 70+ fps if not more. J

3) What was the biggest/toughest problem you ran into and how did you fix it?
This was my first water-cooled rig that I built myself. So of course you learn what NOT to do the first time around. I had to learn how not to panic when one of your pumps explodes while the system is on, spraying coolant over everything. I seriously about passed out, then I realized that FluidXP is non-conductive and all I had to do was let it dry. J

4) What games are you currently playing? Why?
I’m currently playing Crysis (set at “Very High,” getting 70+ fps at 1920x1200 and 4xAA) and MS Flight Simulator X. I am an avid PC Pilot. I have spent a lot of money on all of my peripherals and now I have a beautiful system to show them off with. When I fly, I disable SLI so I can take advantage of my five-monitor setup. I am also playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Unreal Tournament 3, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2 Combat.
