Motherboards, Motherboards, Motherboards – What are my SLI options?
Dear Mad Mod Mike,
I’m looking for a socket 754 SLI ready motherboard, but am having no luck in finding one on the market in the UK. Do you have any suggestions?
Lewis
Dear Mad Mod Mike,
HELP!
I’ve purchased an Asus P5WD2 motherboard LGA755 socket and 2 Geforce 7 series graphics cards but can not get them to work in SLI mode, I’ve been told that nvidia do not yet have a driver to support LGA755 socket as yet is this true or can you help me.
I’m new to building PC’s and I understand I might be missing something. Most grateful for any help.
Stuart
Dear Mad Mod Mike,
I need a motherboard for a desktop that supports Pentium D 820. If there are none, then 830 or 840. I also need it to support The BFG 7800 GTX manufactured by NVIDIA. I need a motherboard that supports both of them. Hopefully the mother board is under 120 dollars and supports 2 BFG 7800 GTX.

Before you buy, make sure your parts are compatible guys! NVIDIA has made this easy by certifying compatible products for SLI. All SLI-Ready motherboards can be found here. You may not find some newly announced products on this list since they are likely still being tested by NVIDIA (I will talk about some of these in a minute), so always at a minimum make sure it has an nForce4 SLI chipset.
So Stuart, sorry to say but you bought a motherboard that isn’t compatible with SLI Technology. If you are set on an Intel CPU, there are several nForce4 SLI for Intel solutions out there. Again, the full list can be found here.
Lewis, EPOX did recently announce a socket 754 SLI motherboard, the EP-8NPA SLI. It should be showing up in e-tail stores very soon. Keep watching.
Hubert, there are a ton of nForce4 SLI for Intel mobos that support Socket LGA775. And yes, there are several for under 120 dollars. The Asus P5ND2-SLI is a good example.
Now...on to my recommendations! Let me provide a couple cool choices depending on how much you want to spend.
The lowest price SLI-Ready motherboard on the market today (and still a kick-ass board) is the Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI,
which sells for as low as UNDER $90 US!
For those with no budget, take a look at this sweet new mobo from Asus, the A8N32-SLI Deluxe. It uses NVIDIA’s new nForce4 SLI X16 chipset (two full bandwidth lanes!) and is Fanless!! You can pre-order it today for $229 US.
Is this not one of the coolest mobos you have ever seen?!!
